( Cincinnati ) - Mercy Health, the largest health system in Ohio, announced plans on Wednesday to merge with Bon Secours Health System, a not-for-profit Catholic health system that mainly covers the east coast.
If approved, the merger would create the fifth largest Catholic health system in the United States, according to a news release. The statement says the combined companies would provide coverage in seven states.
There's no specific date for the proposed merge. Both parties say they will work together to finalize an agreement, and they expect it to happen by the end of this year.
