(700 WLW)- Saturday afternoon just after 3 o'clock, an officer with the Covington Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Jared Derkson. During the stop, Derkson fled on foot in to his residence at 1509 St. Clair Street. During the foot pursuit, the officer observed Derkson carrying a black metal object he believed to be a handgun. Derkson is known to the Covington Police to have a prior charge of Assault 2nd Degree by use of a handgun for which he was out of prison on parole.

A perimeter was established around the house and a search warrant was obtained.
