UPDATE: Flood Warning For Cincinnati Until Further Notice

(Cincinnati, OH) The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for Cincinnati until further notice.

Below is a statement released by the National Weather Service:

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers...

  • Ohio River at Portsmouth
  • Ohio River at Maysville
  • Ohio River at Meldahl Dam
  • Ohio River at Cincinnati
  • Ohio River at Markland Dam

The Flood Warning continues for the Ohio River at Cincinnati until further notice.

  • At 11 AM the stage was 54.9 feet
  • Flood stage is 52 feet.
  • Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
  • The river will fall slightly through Friday but rise again to a   crest near 54.5 feet by Saturday evening. Additional rises are possible   after this time.
  • The river will continue to fall to a stage of 53.8 feet by tomorrow morning.
  • At stages near 55.0 feet, Backwater flooding continues to affect much of northern Kentucky, southwest Ohio and southeast Indiana.  Low-lying roads near the river continue to flood, with much of Anderson Township, Ohio, the East End and California near the river affected.  Flooding begins to affect sections of Route 52 in southeast Hamilton and Clermont Counties.  Low-lying roads in Bromley and Ludlow also flood.

The City of Cincinnati has released a statement that city leaders are actively monitoring and responding to rising river levels.

On Tuesday afternoon, City Manager Harry Black's office put out a statement saying the Stormwater Management Utility is closely monitoring rainfall and river levels and is closing some gates:

  • On Saturday, Harriet St Gate 7 was closed
  • On Monday, Carr St Gate 9 was closed
  • Early Tuesday morning, Mehring Way, Gate 8 was closed

The activation of those gates means there are traffic closures. Click here for a list of roads that are affected.
