(700 WLW)- Firefighters were dispatched for smoke in the 3rd floor hallway of a large apartment building in the 3400 block of McHenry. Upon arrival, companies discovered a small fire in apartment 33. The fire was quickly extinguished.
However during their search, firefighters discovered an unconscious female in the fire apartment. The victim was quickly rescued from the apartment and transferred to a CFD Medic Unit, who was already on the scene. The victim was transported to UC Hospital in critical condition. All occupants except those in the fire apartment were permitted to re-occupy their apartments. 3 people were displaced from the fire apartment; the fire victim, her adult daughter and her grand-daughter.
The CFD Fire Investigative Unit is on the scene determining the cause of the fire. It is unknown at this time whether there were working smoke detectors. Damage is estimated at $15,000.
