Butler County Sheriff Wants Teen Tried as an Adult after Shooting

(Butler County, Oh.)--A Ross High School student is accused of killing a classmate this week.

Police say 18 year-old Austin Hensley was shot in a home in the 900 block of Hine Road Tuesday night.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones says a 17 year-old suspect lured Hensley to the home for a gun swap and he want the teen tried as an adult.

The principle of Ross High School issued a statement about the case Wednesday.

"Our hearts are broken over the events that have transpired over the past 24 hours involving three of our students.  We loved Austin, and our prayers go out to his friends and family.  These events are yet another reminder that no community is immune from the scourge of senseless gun violence.  We are sure that as the police investigation unfolds, more details will come to light.  However, that does not and will not change the fact that a young man has lost his life and, regardless of the circumstances, that is a tragedy.

We will continue to love our students in the hours, days, and weeks to come.  We will offer additional layers of assistance to students and staff as well as partner with outside agencies to provide the support that our school needs during this difficult time.  This is a wonderful community and a great school and we will weather this storm as a family does, together."

The teen has been charged with murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. Another teen is facing a grand theft charge for allegedly stealing a handgun from the scene.

Both suspects are expected to appear in Butler County Juvenile Court on Feb. 12.
