Cincinnati Bell Connector Suspended Until Monday

(700 WLW)-  The Cincinnati Bell Connector service will be suspended until at least Monday, Jan. 22 to allow work on correcting numerous issues related to manufacturing and design defects. Recently, streetcar service has been interrupted repeatedly due to equipment failures.

Most of the issues are related to the air compressors, which are required for the safe operation of the vehicles. The air compressors operate the sanders, which are essential in decelerating the vehicle in slick conditions.

No vehicle will be put in service if there are any safety-related issues.

“We are working with the City of Cincinnati, CAF and Transdev to resolve problems and restore service as quickly as possible,” said Paul Grether, Director of Rail Services for Metro. “Suspending service will allow the team to work intensively on the identified issues with the goal of providing service that is reliable and safe.”
