( Hamilton County ) - The president of the Hamilton County Commission has provided early details about a possible concert venue that could be coming to The Banks.
WCPO reported Wednesday morning about the potential for an indoor/outdoor facility possibly starting construction in a couple of months. Commission President Todd Portune says that date did not come from the county, and he says he's not sure if groundbreaking is possible this year.
In a phone interview with 700WLW News, Portune says a music venue at The Banks is "an exciting project." He says it will generate new excitement and help make The Banks a "24/7, 52-week out of the year, all-seasons venue" that will help restaurants and bars there survive. But he's also hesitant to put any kind of timeline on the plan.
Portune says there's been "a fair amount" of vetting and "pre-discussion" in the plan. He says there will be a formal, public presentation on January 22. He says a developer has not yet been chosen, though PromoWest issued a short statement Wednesday afternoon saying it "is very interested in pursuing building our Indoor/Outdoor concept concert venue in the Banks area." Both PromoWest and Portune stress that nothing has been finalized. According to Portune, any public money involved in the project would go toward infrastructure support of the development, such as parking.
