Kings Schools Students Wore Jerseys with Racial Slurs

(Kings Mills, OH) --The Cincinnati NAACP is getting involved in the uproar over a youth basketball team's jerseys.  Officials say the jerseys worn by Kings High School students during a game this past weekend included racial slurs.

They're hoping to hold the students and their parents accountable and make it a teaching moment.  The team was booted from the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League over the uniforms, which also included sexually suggestive names.

The coordinator for Kings Rec Basketball is apologizing over jerseys. The squad was allowed to play with the controversial names on their backs for three weeks before being shutdown.

Charisse Middleton tells Fox 19 that as soon as she learned about the jerseys the team was removed from the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League.

A spokesperson for the Kings Schools says the team was not associated with the district and has now restricted the teams use of school facilities.
