Amy Murray: Renacci Will Stay In Race For Governor

(Cincinnati, OH) Ohio Republicans are waiting to see who will be their candidate to face off with Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown in November.

State Treasurer Josh Mandel dropped out of the race last week, he said because of his wife's poor health. Governor Candidates Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and U.S. Congressman Jim Renacci are being offered up as potential replacements for Mandel, but Renacci's running mate Cincinnati Council member Amy Murray says he'll only do it if President Trump asks him to switch races.

"Jim and I talk everyday and we are moving 100-percent forward with running for Governor and Lt. Governor. Jim has always said that he feels the best way he can lead is at the state level and being governor of the state of Ohio to really impact change," said Lt. Gov. Candidate Amy Murray in a Tuesday interview on WKRC-AM (55KRC). "Having said that, his only caveat is if President Trump called him and said 'I absolutely need you or want you to do this', he would listen."

Murray said for right now they are moving 100-percent forward as candidates in the Ohio Governor's race.

Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor is expected to announce her running mate in the Ohio Governor's race Wednesday. Attorney General Mike Dewine and State Secretary Jon Husted are also vying for the Republican slot on the November ticket.

The Republican field of candidates for the U.S. Senate race remains at three. Republican Cleveland-area businessman and political newbie Mike Gibbons remains in the U.S Senate Race along with fellow Republicans Donald Elijah Eckhart and Melissa Ackison. Gibbons campaign announced Sunday that 16 campaign chairs for Renacci/Murray had announced their support Gibbons candidacy.
