UPDATE: Cincinnati Police released a statement on Twitter Tuesday evening, saying that the 4-year-old girl who was injured in a crash Monday on Winton Road has now died from her injuries at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
The updated statement does not bring up any possible criminal charges, but investigators believe the crash occurred as two cars were racing.
ORIGINAL STORY:
( Winton Hills ) - Cincinnati Police say excessive speed is believed to be a factor in a four-car crash Monday afternoon that shut down Winton Road for hours.
Just after 1pm, police were called to the intersection of Winton and Dutch Colony for a crash involving four vehicles. Police say a Ford Taurus and an Audi A6 were headed north when they made contact with each other and drove into the southbound lanes, colliding with two oncoming cars.
The Taurus went over the guardrail into a ditch, and police say there was a 4-year-old girl in that car. She's in critical condition at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. A woman in one of the southbound cars suffered serious injuries and is in fair condition. The other people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.
Police have not yet announced any criminal charges, but it's believed the two drivers who were headed north were racing at the time.
