Update: Baby Dies After Being Injured In Winton Hills Crash

(Cincinnati, OH) - Cincinnati police report a 6-month-old baby girl has died from her injuries she suffered in a Winton Hills crash on Thursday. The driver, Demarkous Martin, 22, was operating 2011 Nissan Altima south on Winton Ridge Lane turning east onto Dutch Colony Road.  He failed to control the vehicle, leaving the right side of the roadway, and striking a tree.  Martin and two women and three young children including the infant were injured and taken to the hospital. Investigators report none of victims were wearing seatbelts. 

Martin was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries and is listed in stable condition. 

Hope Bridgett, 21, front seat passenger, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with minor injuries and is listed in stable condition 

Faith Bridgett, 24, was a back seat passenger and was transported to Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. She is listed in stable condition.  

A 7 year-old boy , a 2 year-old girl, and a 6-month-old girl were in the back seat when the crash happened.  They were all transported to Children’s Hospital. The 7-year-old and the 2 year-old sustained minor injuries and are listed in stable condition. 

The baby sustained life threatening injuries and on Saturday December 30, 2017, at approximately 5:25 p.m., the baby succumbed to her injuries while being treated at Children’s Hospital.

Investigators report excessive speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash and impairment is unknown at this time. The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
