Major League Soccer is set to make a major announcement in Nashville on Wednesday regarding MLS expansion. The assumption is since they are going to Tennessee for the announcement that it has chosen Nashville for a new franchise.
Nashville has been in competition with Cincinnati, Sacramento and Detroit for an expansion team. The league is planning to add two teams for the 2020 seasons but there is no word yet on where the second team will be located. FC Cincinnati has not commented on the news yet and as of now there are no announcements scheduled for Cincinnati.
Many experts have been predicting that Nashville and Sacramento would be selected for this wave of expansion because they have stadium plans that are further developed than the plan approved earlier this month in Cincinnati. The league is planning on adding two more teams in the future but no timetable for the next wave of expansion has been set yet.
