Council Committee Holds Off on New D5

( Cincinnati ) - During Cincinnati City Council's Budget and Finance Committee meeting on Monday, Councilman Charlie Winburn introduced a new proposal on where to put the District 5 police headquarters: College Hill.

The College Hill plan would be a new facility for $17 million, but council has already budgeted $10 million to renovate a building the city already owns along Central Parkway.

After hours of debate and input from various people, including members of the police department who support the College Hill plan, Councilman Chris Seelbach introduced a motion to put the issue on hold for now, with the intention that the next session of council would take it up next year.

Despite frustration from some outgoing members of council who wanted the vote now, the motion passed 5 to 4.
