Update: In a post-game locker room interview with Dave Lapham on 700WLW on the Cincinnati Bengals Radio Network broadcast, Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis refused to confirm an ESPN report that said he would be leaving after this season.
Dave Lapham asked Coach Lewis about the report by Adam Schefter on espn.com.
"It's the same comment we've been making since August, we have no comment about the future, we'll deal with the future when the future comes. My job is to prepare the football team, which I'm disappointed in how we've played," Lewis told Lapham after the Bengals' 34-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday afternoon.
Coach Lewis then flatly denied the report during the postgame press conference.
"No," Lewis said chuckling, " It's the same report you guys have been reporting on all season, there's nothing changed since August."
(Cincinnati, Oh.)--After 15 seasons as the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, Marvin Lewis wants to move on.
ESPN is reporting that Lewis has told Adam Schefter that he will not be returning to the Bengals next season. According to the report, Lewis wants to explore becoming a head coach somewhere else or explore a move into another clubs front office. Lewis is not under contract with the Bengals for next season and will end his time in Cincinnati failing to ever win a playoff game. The Bengals were 0-7 in the playoffs under Lewis who has a regular season record of 123-111-3 headed into the Bengals final three games.
The Enquirer reports today that the players were caught off guard as they arrived at the stadium in Minnesota for this afternoon’s game against the Vikings.
