20th Anniversary of Cincinnati Officers Killed In Ambush

"It'll just be a night I will never ever forget."

Remembering two Cincinnati police officers gunned down in an ambush 20 years ago. FOP President Dan Hils remembers the night Officers Ronald Jeter and Daniel Pope were shot in the head as they went to a Hollister Street apartment in Clifton Heights to arrest 20-year-old Alonzo Davenport on domestic violence warrants. Davenport then fled the scene and then shot himself, committing suicide on Jefferson Ave. as officers closed in on him. Read the full detailed account of the shooting from the Greater Cincinnati Police Museum.

"I helped carry the stretcher of Officer Ron Jeter out of that home and the fireman encouraged me to try to talk to him," said Hils on 55KRC, "I knew then there was very little, if any,  hope for Ron and I had already seen the condition Dan was in,  and I knew that fight was over."

A celebration of Officers Jeter's and Pope's lives will be at the Holy Grail at 4 :00 Tuesday December 5, 2017.
