( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- Hamilton County Commissioners stuck to their word that they would not invest tax payer dollars in a new soccer-specific stadium for FC Cincinnati. However, they did say that if Paul Brown Stadium did not work out as an option for the soccer club, they would consider using parking revenue to construct a 1,000-space parking garage in Oakley, new the site of FCC's possible future stadium.
County Commissioners did vote unanimously to use parking revenue dollars for the parking garage, on the condition that FCC wins their bid with Major League Soccer (MLS). During City Council, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley said he wished the county could have done more, but respects them for sticking to their word and voting to build the parking garage.
After some discussion in Cincinnati City Council, a vote was taken on whether or not the city should invest $37 million in infrastructure at the Oakley site where FC Cincinnati hopes to build a soccer-specific stadium. The vote was 5-3 in favor of giving the funding, with only Chris Seelbach, Yvette Simpson, and PG Sittenfeld voting "no". That funding for infrastructure is also conditional on FCC winning their bid to be a part of MLS.
