UC Police Chief Resigns

( University of Cincinnati ) - After roughly a week of unconfirmed rumors, the University of Cincinnati has released a statement saying that UC Police Chief Anthony Carter has resigned.

At 10am Tuesday, Vice President for Safety and Reform Robin Engel released a statement saying:

The University of Cincinnati has accepted Anthony Carter's voluntary resignation as UC's Chief of Police effective November 23, 2017. Tony is proud of UCPD's growth and development during his time with the University. He has enjoyed working with UC students, faculty, and staff, and will be moving into a new role within the University's Institute of Crime Science ("ICS"). Housed in the School of Criminal Justice, the ICS team combines the knowledge and skills of both academic researchers and criminal justice practitioners, like Tony, to solve real-world problems.

Carter was appointed police chief in June 2016 after the former chief, Jason Goodrich, when he was accused of misleading UC administrators in the months leading up to the deadly shooting of Sam DuBose by then-Officer Ray Tensing.

No reason has been given as to why Carter is no longer police chief.
