( Colerain Twp ) - Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that started as a call to report a domestic dispute.
A statement from Colerain Twp Police says officers were called to a home on Thompson near Indian Ridge around 3:30 Friday afternoon. The first officer to arrive on-scene says she was met in the driveway by a man with a gun. That man allegedly pointed his handgun at the officer. Police say she took cover and fired at him multiple times.
The officer was not hurt. The suspect has been identified as 66-year-old Gary Sanzone. He was taken to UC Medical Center in unknown condition. Police Chief Mark Denney told reporters that officers have been called to this home for domestic violence reports in the past.
Cincinnati Police will be investigating the shooting. The officer is now on paid, administrative leave.
