(Cincinnati, OH) -- Stores and shopping malls across the Tri-State will be packed today for Black Friday. Some big-box retailers opened on Thanksgiving day to get the drop on competitors with deep discounts on clothing, electronics and other hot gift items.
Local police are reminding shoppers to be aware of their surroundings and keep valuables locked up and out of sight to keep crooks away.
Police say, the holidays are the prime time for thieves to strike.
They're urging you to be aware of your surroundings when loading up your car and crossing the street. Keep valuables covered up in locked vehicles and avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
They also say get your delivered packages off the porch as soon as possible, to keep thieves from walking up and taking them.
