( Hamilton County ) - Commissioners casually mentioned it during Wednesday's announcement about FC Cincinnati, but an official statement was released Thursday: MSD customers will not see a sewer rate increase next year.
MSD says that's the third straight year of steady sewer rates, but even though sewer rates are staying the same, MSD is making some changes in 2018. For one, billing will now be issued on a monthly basis instead of quarterly billing. Also starting next year, the minimum base charge for sewer service will be based only on the size of the property's water meter and will include the first 300 cubic feet of water per month.
An example in the statement says a property with a 5/8" water meter (the smallest size for residential meters), the minimum base charge will be $39.12 instead of $57.11. MSD Director Gerald Checco says "if you use 300 cubic feet of water or less in a month, you will see a reduction in your sewer bill."
The changes go into effect on January 1, 2018.
