( Hamilton County ) - Prosecutor Joe Deters on Thursday announced the indictment of a woman who's worked in the Clerk of Courts office for more than twenty years.
A statement from Deters' office says 45-year-old Yakyma Boyd (pictured) is accused of selling confidential information from search warrants "to potential targets of criminal investigations." Speaking publicly, Deters said "we have someone who was entrusted with very sensitive information... that could lead to the death or injury of police officers... and in that respect, I don't think Ms Boyd understands the significance of what she was doing."
Boyd is charged with two counts of tampering with records, one count of bribery, one count of obstruction, one count of theft in office, and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Also indicted Thursday was 49-year-old Ernest Bryant. He's charged with multiple counts including tampering with records, bribery, obstruction, trafficking in cocaine, and more. Investigators say Boyd and Bryant are acquaintances, and he allegedly helped her release and disseminate confidential, search warrant information.
Investigators say the crimes Boyd and Bryant are charged with occurred last month, but they admit they don't know how many other times the information was released prior to these allegations.
Clerk of Courts Aftab Pureval spoke Thursday, saying what Boyd did is "disgusting." Pureval announced changes to the office including background checks on current employees every four years.
If convicted on all counts, Boyd faces more than 20 years in prison, Bryant faces more than 40 years.
