A teen from Walton is injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking across the street Wednesday morning. A traffic collision involving a pedestrian and vehicle occurred at the intersection of Mary Grubbs Highway (KY 14/16) and Towne Center Boulevard in Walton, Kentucky causing the pedestrian to be sent to the hospital with life threatening injuries at 6:50 a.m.
A 2005 GMC Envoy, operated by Tara Koors, 51, of Walton, Kentucky, was traveling westbound on Mary Grubbs Highway in the left lane at the intersection with Town Center Boulevard on a green light. Koors vehicle then struck a pedestrian, Hunter Donovan, 17, of Walton, Kentucky, who was attempting to cross the roadway at the intersection.
Walton Fire/EMS upon arrival determined the injuries sustained were life threatening, and Donovan was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH by AirCare medical helicopter. Koors was not injured in the collision.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time, and Koors is cooperating with the investigation. Donovan’s family has been notified. Donovan is a senior at Walton Verona High School in Walton, Kentucky, and school authorities have been notified.
