Ohio State Students Protest GOP Tax Plan

(Columbus, OH)  --  Graduate students at Ohio State University don't want to see proposed federal tax reforms move forward.

They're planning a campus protest today to raise awareness of the Republican-backed plan they say would levy taxes on their tuition waivers.

Protest organizers say that would cause tax bills to triple and make their education unaffordable.

Meanwhile Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says the proposed tax plan is projected to deliver two-point-two-trillion-dollars in growth. The Secretary told CNN's "State of the Union" that if the gross national product is increased by 30 to 40 basis points, the plan breaks-even.

Mnuchin says the tax bill will be the largest cut to the system since the 1980s.  Mnuchin said corporate tax cuts from 35 percent to 20 percent would be the largest in U.S. history.
