Covington's New Online Portal Provides Transparency

A new online portal is providing more transparency for Covington residents to learn about their city.

Covington City Manager of Analytics and Intelligence Dr. Todd Sink explained a new online portal shows the city's commitment to transparency and accountability. The COVDATA portal is accessible via the City's website and directly at http://data.covingtonky.gov.  A user guide can be found under "About" on the portal homepage.

"What residents can find right now is a lot of information related to public safety, neighbor economic development, environmental reports as well," said Dr. Sink. "So like public safety for example, they can find out how many police calls for service do they see in their neighborhood."

Data currently are downloadable in standard spreadsheet and portable document (PDF) formats.  Mobile-friendly dashboards are also available to provide a more user-friendly view of data.  Along with the option to download processed data and view interactive dashboards, the City of Covington also provides an official summary report for each dataset.

Dr. Sink said the city is taking feedback from the public about other information they would like to see on the COVDATA platform. The link to the feedback form can be found on the city's website under Contact on the homepage.
