Pickup Truck Slams Into Ambulance

(Sycamore Township) Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil reports a crash with injuries that happened at the intersection of East Kemper Rd. and Snider Rd. in Sycamore Township at approximately 10:43 a.m. Sycamore Township Medic 93 was in emergency response, with flashing lights and audible siren, enroute to Bethesda North Hospital with a patient on board. Medic 93 was southbound on Snider Rd at the intersection of East Kemper. According to witnesses, the medic unit stopped at a traffic light to turn left just as the light was changing to red. As the medic unit began to ease forward into the intersection, a red pickup truck failed to stop for the emergency vehicle and struck the medic unit. The driver of the truck and the driver of the medic unit were transported to Bethesda North for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The patient was transported to Bethesda North by a Sharonville medic for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The pickup, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, was being driven by Eric Stanford, 36, of Cincinnati. Firefighter/Medic Richard Cathcart, 40, of Sycamore Township Fire Department was the driver of the medic unit. Both Mr. Stanford and Fire Medic Cathcart were treated and released. Alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is being conducted by Hamilton County Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit.
