Pedestrian Hit In Green Township Monday Night

(Green Township) The man struck by an SUV in Green Township Monday night has died from his injuires. 

Police say 31-year-old James Heekin was not in a crosswalk when he was struck along Harrison Avenue. 

It's unclear if the driver will face any charges.

(Green Township)- Chief James Vetter, Green Township Police Department and Sheriff Jim Neil, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, report an auto accident involving a pedestrian which occurred in the 6700 block of Harrison Ave. at 7:53 P.M.

A 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by Joseph Bailey, of Cincinnati, was traveling southbound on Harrison Ave. in the 6700 block. A pedestrian, James Heekin, also of Cincinnati, entered the southbound lane of travel and was struck by the Chevrolet Tahoe. Mr. Heekin was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Mr. Heekin was transported by Green Twp. Life Squad to Mercy West Hospital for life threatening injuries. He was subsequently transferred to University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The incident remains under investigation by the Green Township Police/ Hamilton County Sheriff Investigative Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
