UPDATE: Cincinnati Mayoral Candidates Debate Canceled

UPDATE:

There will not be a Cincinnati mayoral candidate debate Monday night at the Farm in Delhi Township. The campaign manager for Council Member Yvette Simpson sent a message to organizers last night telling them that Simpson had to "make some tough cuts" to the campaign schedule and would not attend the debate.  Simpson's campaign had confirmed attendance for the event back on September 7th. Organizers with EmpowerU reported both candidates were given a copy of the questions they were to be asked at the debate. The candidates were also set to take questions from the audience.

Here is the statement released from EmpowerU on the cancellation.

"Cancellation of tonight’s debate falls squarely on Candidate Simpson who made the decision to cancel. EmpowerU does not know if the cancellation might have to do with one of the first six questions which were given to the candidates in advance. Many of us who worked on the debate are disappointed about the disruption this cancellation causes to The Farm, a great Cincinnati venue, that has prepared extensively for this event by having employees on-hand and by buying food to prepare."
