Kentucky residence may soon need to present a passport to board a flight even if they are only flying domesticity.
Starting on Jan. 28, 2018, anyone who has a driver's license issued by U.S. states that are not in compliance with the REAL ID Act of 2005 will need to present an alternative form of ID in order to board their flight.
It is a change that could have a major impact on the already busy holiday flying season.
The states currently not in compliance with the REAL ID Act include Maine, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington.
The federal government may approve an extension to allow those in the states to continue to travel using Kentucky driver's licenses.
