Largest Crowd Ever to Downtown and Over-the-Rhine For BLINK

(Cincinnati, Oh.)--Cincinnati Police estimate BLINK, brought the largest gathering of people ever to downtown Cincinnati and Over-the-Rhine over a four day period.

With over 1 Million visitors hitting the streets to take in the 4 day light show BLINK saw larger crowds than Riverfest (500,000), Taste of Cincinnati (550,000), and Oktoberfest Zinzinnati (675,000).

BLINK, the largest event of its kind in the nation, featured large-scale projection mapping, murals, urban artscapes, media light, interactive art and diverse, eclectic entertainment.

“BLINK places Cincinnati at the forefront of cities that are known for arts, culture and unique experiences,” said Jill P. Meyer, president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.  In a press release Tuesday, Meyer said “BLINK shined a light - literally and figuratively - on this region’s creative community and beautiful architecture. It is a beacon to talent from around the globe, showing them that Cincinnati is the ideal place to dream and do. Simply put, BLINK was an over-the-top success.”

Nearly 500 volunteers made BLINK possible as more than 100 artists took part in BLINK, 60 of them were from the Cincinnati area. Other artists were from around the globe including Goiânia, Brazil, London, England Penang, Malaysia Lahore, Pakistan Tasmania, Australia and Barranquitas, Puerto Rico.

Rich Walburg the Communications Director with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber said that The Cincinnati Police Department also reported 0 police incidents during the show. "they did a tremendous job" said Walburg, adding the Police Department "Need to be commended on the great job that they did keeping everyone safe, and everybody felt safe".
