(Cincinnati, OH) -- People will be stopping across the Tri-State to watch the skies for a rare solar eclipse.
Several viewing parties are scheduled around town this afternoon, including the Cincinnati Observatory, Drake Planetarium and several local libraries.
Eye doctors are reminding the public to not watch the eclipse directly without proper protection.
People are calling it "The Great American Eclipse" and it will block out the sun over a dozen states today. This is the first total solar eclipse of the Sun that will be visible in the contiguous U.S. since 1979.
Listen Below to 700 WLW Scott Sloan talk to Dean Regas with the Cincinnati Observatory about the Solar Eclipse today.
