Deputies Shoot And Kill Dog Charging At Officers

(Columbia Township, OH) -- Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil reports that deputies responded to 5540 Kennedy Ave on Sunday for the report of two pit bulls running around in the area. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and prior to their arrival the dogs had fled the area. Deputies then left the area on foot attempting to locate the dogs since they had caused damage to a vehicle. Deputies then heard what appeared to be a dog fight then heard someone yelling for help. Deputies then ran back to 5540 Kennedy Ave and saw the homeowner on the ground being attacked by one of the pit bulls. The deputies then deployed their tasers which did not take effect. One of the pit bulls then started to charge at one of the deputies at that point in time a deputy and SPCA officer discharged their firearms striking the dog and killing same.
