(Columbus, OH)--Records show a death row inmate who hanged himself in March didn't want to make a planned move to a new prison.
A state patrol file obtained by The Associated Press through a records request also shows inmate Patrick Leonard was discouraged by a recent legal setback.
But the records also say there weren't imminent signs that Leonard would take his own life. He used a pair of long underwear tied to a pipe to kill himself.
Leonard was sentenced to death for the 2000 killing of his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Dawn Flick, in Hamilton County.
The prison system said last month the planned move of death row from Chillicothe to Toledo has been delayed indefinitely.
Leonard didn't have a scheduled execution date.
