A drowning happened Sunday afternoon in Whitewater Township. Dispatchers in Hamilton County received a call for help around 1 p.m. and later recovered a man's body from the Whitewater River in the area of the US 50 bridge near Kilby Road. The Whitewater Township Fire Department reports that the man was a fisherman who was attempting to walk across the river was pulled under by the current. The victim was found about 100 yards downstream from where he went under. They report another fisherman who was also attempting to cross the river with the victim safely made it to the other side.
