Deadly Ride Accident at the Ohio State Fair

The Fireball

The Opening day of the Ohio State Fair turned tragic. One person is dead and several others injured after they were thrown off a ride. Pieces of "The Fireball" broke away hurtling the victims through the air before crashing to the ground over fifty feet away. David Daniels is in charge of ride safety for the state agriculture deparment and he says they had just examined the ride thoroughly earlier in the day. Ohio's Governor has ordered all of the rides at the fair to be shutdown until they can make sure they are all safe. Governor Kasich says in addition to doing new inspections on all rides at the fair he wants the state to take a look at the inspection process that the rides are put through to make sure that it is thorough enough.

Watch a report from the scene for out Jarrod Allen in Columbus:

The operators of the fair are expressing their condolences to the victims through its Twitter feed.
