Cincinnati Cops Have No Confidence in Prosecutor

Cincinnati police will not be participating in the renewal of the collaborative agreement aimed at improving police community relations. The police officers union has voted not to be part of the process because of attacks on officers that have come from a local civil rights attorney and a civil rights activist who are involved in the effort. The cops have also taken a no confidence vote in Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters because of his offices attacks on the homicide squad during the last Ray Tensing trial. It is not clear how this will impact police working with the prosecutors office in the future.

FOP President Dan Hils will discuss the police action with Newsradio 700WLW's Bill Cunningham today at 1:06.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters made the following statement about the FOP vote,

“Despite the FOP vote, I remain committed to doing the best job I can do as the Hamilton County Prosecutor and I have full confidence in the Cincinnati Police Department.”

The following is a copy of the letter from FOP President Dan Hils:

FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE

QUEEN CITY LODGE NO. 691900 CENTRAL PARKWAY

CINCINNATI, OHIO 45214513-381-2550 FAX 51 3-381 -2552

July 25, 2017

To whom it may concern; There were two votes on the floor of FOP 69 last night of possible interest. The first was the membership ordered me to no longer participate in the collaborative ”refresh” process. The membership has been extremely disappointed with the attacks on Sgt. Heine by Mr. Gerhardstein and Ms. Rolley.

The second was a no-confidence vote in Prosecutor Joseph Deters. This vote is inresponse to the prosecutors attack on Sgt. Heine and CPD Homicide.

FOP, President
