(Cincinnati, OH)-- Ray Tensing could have a job as a Butler County Sheriff's Deputy if he's interested in returning to law enforcement.
Sheriff Richard Jones told 700WLW's Bill Cunningham Tuesday that he'd consider hiring Tensing after murder charges were dropped. "I would not be afraid to hire Mr. Tensing at all, period." Jones said "It doesn't mean I'm going to hire him tomorrow but he can go ahead and put in an application and go though the process."
Jones also encouraged Tensing to sue the University of Cincinnati to get his job back. "I hope Tensing sues, sues the pants off of UC".
All charges against Ray Tensing were dropped with prejudice, meaning that the criminal case has permanently been dismissed. Two juries were previously unable to reach a unanimous verdict to convict Tensing on murder and voluntary manslaughter charges. Tensing remains under federal investigation for possible civil rights violations in the traffic stop shooting death of Samuel DuBose in July, 2015.
A "Support Ray Tensing" group had organized an event at Sawyer Point for Monday night, but scrapped it amid fear of violence. A group demanding justice for Samuel DuBose took over the site instead.
Supporters of the former officer Ray Tensing say they'll try to schedule another rally after threats derailed their first event. The rally was planned after the charges against Tensing in DuBose's death were formally dismissed.
