No Federal Charges for Beavercreek Officer in 2014 Shooting

( Beavercreek, Ohio ) - The US Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, Benjamin Glassman, announced on Tuesday that the review into the fatal shooting of John Crawford III (pictured) has been closed and no charges will be filed.

A statement says there is not enough evidence to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Officer Sean Williams violated federal civil rights laws.

Officer Williams fatally shot John Crawford II at the Wal-Mart in Beavercreek on August 5, 2014. A person called 911 to say a man at the store (Crawford) was pointing a gun at people. That was weapon was actually a bb gun that Crawford had taken from a store shelf. Police say Crawford refused to follow their verbal commands before he was shot. Crawford had been on the phone at the time.

The statement from the US Attorney says Crawford's family has been notified.
