A former Taylor High School teacher and coach will be in court Tuesday for his sentencing after he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery, a third degree felony. Court documents show Kevin Murphy, 51, was initially charged with six counts of sexual battery on which he entered a plea of not guilty, but back in May Murphy decided to take a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery while the other five counts against him were dropped.
Police investigators allege Murphy had sexual contact multiple times with a female student from October to November 2016. Murphy resigned his position with the Three Rivers Local Schools district after the administrators found out about the relationship and turned evidence over to police. Murphy was employed by the school district for almost two decades before he resigned. He will be sentenced Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Hamilton County Court by Judge Tom Heekin.
