Record Number of 'IRS-Scam' Calls in June

(Columbus, OH)--Attorney General Mike DeWine said his office received reports of 600 IRS scams during the month of June. That is the most so far this year.

Like in previous scam warnings, DeWine said the caller states that they are with the Internal Revenue Service, and there is a payment issue.

The caller demands that the person buy a gift card, and read the numbers over the phone. Sometimes, the caller threatens arrest.

DeWine said the best thing to do is hang up.
