An Adult And Two Children Escape House Fire

(700 WLW)- The Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center received several calls reporting a house on fire at 6208 Chandler Street in Madisonville. Upon arrival, fire companies found a "working fire" on the rear deck that had extended into the first and second floor of an occupied 2 story residential private dwelling. Aggressive, offensive firefighting operations were conducted bringing the fire under control within fifteen minutes. Extensive overhaul was necessary by firefighters to ensure extinguish, due to the void spaces that the fire traveled through in the building. One adult and two children were home at the time of the fire and self evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire department. There were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire was determined to be an unattended charcoal grill next to combustibles. Damage is estimated at $30,000. The Red Cross is assisting the family who occupied the home.
