Father of Otto Warmbier Speaks Out on Son's Return

(Cincinnati) He says he doesn't want any other family to have to endure what his family has. The father of Otto Warmbier is calling on North Korea to release other Americans being held there after his son returned in a coma.

The 22-year-old was flown back to the Tri-State Tuesday night and was  immediately taken to UC Medical Center.

A spokesperson for UC Health says Otto is in stable condition, but has suffered a severe neurological injury. Doctors will giving more information on his condition.

It had been reported that Warmbier slipped into a coma shortly after his trial last year after he contracted a case of botulism and was given a sleeping pill.

Fred Warmbier says his son was terrorized and brutalized by his captors. Otto was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor after confessing to trying to steal a North Korean political banner.
