( Tri-State ) - In just a couple weeks, you can crack a beer and support Fiona.
Listermann Brewing has announced that it's teaming up with the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden to brew and sell a "Team Fiona" beer.
Listermann General Manager Jason Brewer says a lot of zoo employees hang out at the taproom on Dana Avenue, and he says some of them were sitting around recently, and "we were talking and let's make a Fiona beer." Brewer says his workers are constantly checking for updates on the zoo's baby hippo that was born six weeks premature. She's now up to 250 lbs and is expected to be on public display very soon.
That public display may well coincide with the premiere of Team Fiona beer. "June 10 at 10am we're going to open, and I can promise you there will be a line, so you'll want to get here early. We'll have 180 cases of it here," Brewer says. Team Fiona beer will also be sent out to seven stores: four Kroger, both Jungle Jim's locations, and Cappie's in Loveland. Those stores will get roughly ten cases each.
Drinking the beer helps support all the extraordinary care that's needed to help Fiona grow. 25% of sales will be donated. Brewer says there's a good chance a second round of Team Fiona will be produced, but it'll depend on sales of this first batch.
