Star Wars Exhibit at Museum Center Opens Thursday

(Cincinnati, Oh.)--The Cincinnati Museum Center is set to open its highly anticipated exhibit "Star Wars and The Power of Costume" on Thursday May 25.

The exhibit will feature more than 60 of the hand-crafted costumes featured in seven films of the Star Wars saga. Cody Heffner with the Museum Center says the exhibition uncovers the challenges, the concept design and creation of the costumes and the characters. "So you dive into that thought process the design process and the creative process behind creating those costumes and these characters."

Heffner says the costumes shaped the identities of the famous characters, from the menacing black mask of Darth Vader and the gilded suit of C-3PO, to the lavish royal gowns of Queen Amidala. "The costumes are so integral to the story telling and the stories themselves, you can look at a character and almost immediate know what side they are on and it kind of guides and carries the story".

Visitors will see the robes of Jedi masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker, Imperial Stormtroopers, Senate Guard and TIE Fighter Pilot costumes. The Yak hair and mohair costume of Chewbacca and the gilded suit of C-3PO as well as armor of mercenary bounty hunters Jango Fett, and Boba Fett. The elaborately detailed gowns of Queen Amidala, Queen Jamillia and their handmaidens will also be on display.

Heffner says you are welcome to dress as your favorite Star Wars character up for the exhibition but they request that you do not wear a mask and do not bring in any weapons such as light sabers and blasters.

Heffner tells visitors that admission to the exhibit is a timed entry system and the tickets to the show can be purchased online here.
