(Cincinnati, Oh.)--The Hoxworth Blood Center is continuing their call for blood donations after local supply's have been severely depleted.
Alicia Lipton the Public Information Officer with the Hoxworth Blood Center says they have a critical need for O-Positive an O-Negative Blood types. Lipton says "several patients were treated with transfusions for sickle cell disease over the past weekend and that has continued to deplete our supply's."
Lipton adds that the Memorial Day holiday is also one of their most critical times for donations. "We need people to come in this week leading up to the Memorial day Holiday," Lipton says "not only will we loose a day to collect blood on Monday with it being a holiday but unfortunately with summer holidays we also see an increase in usage due to traumas and car accidents."
You do not need to scheduled an appointment to donate but they are suggested to get you in and out quickly.
This weekend May 26 and May 27, anyone who donates will receive a two free movie tickets.
People who donate now through May 27, will receive a voucher for a $1 beer at Rhinegeist Brewery, valid beginning May 29.
