Cincinnati Police Recruiting Efforts

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- In recent years across the country, less people have expressed interest in becoming police officers. The lack of applicants and recruits has been felt here in Cincinnati as well, as they have struggled to get enough people to apply.

However, the Cincinnati Police Department is putting forth new recruiting efforts in hopes to get people to apply. CPD says that if someone does not agree with policing has been done or perceived, the only way to change it is from the inside by making a difference and being a positive influence in the community.

The CPD says the way they solve problems is with community involvement, improving the quality of life for all they serve through core crime fighting strategies, and community problem oriented policing and evidence-based policing.

To qualify to be a recruit, an applicant needs to be 21 years of age, be a high school graduate, have a valid Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana state drivers licence, and meet 15% of Cooper Physical Fitness Standards prior to entering the Academy.

Applications will be accepted through July 31, and you can find out all the information on becoming a CPD recruit and sign up to take the exam on their recruit web page. Open houses are also scheduled on June 17 and July 15 from 10 AM - 2 PM at the Police Academy (Old Spinney Field).
