Job Cuts at Wright State University This Summer

(Dayton Oh.)--Layoffs could hit Wright State University this summer as the school struggles to slash millions of dollars from their annual budget.

The school plans to lay off nearly 70 employees and eliminate over 100 other jobs that are currently vacant. The cuts are part of a budget proposal for 2018 that potentially could save the University $8 million.

Changes in operation are part of the new budget proposal that also aims to reduce travel expenses, limit or slash scholarships and student employment.

The budget goes for a vote before the Board of Trustees on June 8, if approved the layoff notices will be sent out the third week of week of June.
