Firefighter Injured After Accident at Fire Station

(HEBRON, KY,)-- A Hebron Firefighter is is serious condition at the hospital today after being burned at the fire station while he was working.

The Hebron Fire Protection District issued a press release today about the incident. At approximately 8:20pm Sunday a Hebron Firefighter was burned at Fire Station No.1, located at 3120 Northbend Road. The firefighter had been cleaning yard waste and debris from around the fire station grounds and burning them in a burn barrel. At some point he used a flammable liquid which caused a flash fire.

The firefighter suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on roughly 25% of his upper body. he was taken to St. Elizabeth Florence, where he was flown to U.C. Medical Center. The firefighter is in serious but stable condition.

His name is not being released to protect the identity of his family.
