( Cincinnati ) - The Cincinnati Public Schools board announced updates to employment contracts on Monday evening.
The appointment of Laura Mitchell as the next CPS superintendent as of August 1 is now official. Mitchell was announced as the school board's choice earlier this month. A statement says the finalized contract will have Mitchell in that position for a three-year term at $240,000 per year. Mitchell replaces Mary Ronan, who announced in November that she's retiring this July.

- Teachers are required to communicate electronically at least once a week with parents about student progress
- An additional $200,000 in the extracurricular budget for the 2017-2018 school year, and a 2% stipend increase for teachers who advise/coach extracurriculars
- Additional support for English Language Learning students and English as a Second Language teachers
- A new Testing Review Committee to review and improve annual district testing practices
The Cincinnati Federation of Office Personnel also agreed to a new, three-year contract that provides similar salarly raises.
