(Dayton, Oh.) - Two children who police say were shot by their mother in last week in a west Dayton neighborhood have died.
The Dayton Daily News reports that 8-year-old Khmorra and 6-year-old boy Kaiden Helton passed away Sunday, May 21 at Dayton Children's Hospital.
They had both been shot in the head on Thursday morning at their home on Lori Sue Avenue in Dayton. A third child, 11-year-old Camaya, was inside the home at the time of the shooting but she was not injured. Investigators found shell casings and bullets inside the house as well as a 9mm gun.
Their mother Claudena Helton, has been booked on two counts of felonious assault and remains in jail. Police say she may have mental health problems. She's scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
