( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- It's being said that a newly hired staffer in Mayor John Cranley's office stamped and approved a proclamation without proper review or the mayor's signature. The proclamation was approved and then retracted today that would have a day honoring Trepierre Hummons.
Hummons is the man who shot and killed Officer Sonny Kim back in 2015. The proclamation for "Tre Day" on June 1, says "Trepierre's life will be a life remembered through the commitment of the Trepierre Foundation's efforts to impact mental illness in kids and young adults."
Mayor Cranley issued tearful apologies to the widow of Sonny Kim, CPD Chief Eliot Isaac, and Sgt. Dan Hills.
